The National Addiction Memorial honors the loved ones we’ve lost.

My mama was my best friend. You could never tell she was ever upset. She had a smile that would make Christmas look DIM! She never met a stranger and would do anything she could to help someone who was in need, even if she needed it more- she had to make sure everyone was taken care of first and always put herself last. Everyone knew her from our hometown and everyone loved her to death, its crazy that she didn't have any clue in the world how much she was valued and truly loved. She will never know how bad she was needed and still is - more so now than ever. I wish she was here today. Though my life would be very much different- I would be happier.... The WORLD would be happier.

Watching Monday night wrestling with her and my uncles and grandma every week. It was our weekly ritual and we would get so carried away watching the show that we would start wrestling amongst ourselves. My Uncle Casey & I broke her new couch once; I was doing the Hericurana one of Lita's signature moves on him as we were wrestling and when i came down and landed, we had put some force behind it because later that night, we were in a ton of crap cause the couch was broken down. hahaha. she yelled my name for 10 minutes.

I miss her laugh.

I think she just wants people to genuinely feel how they feel. She didnt like fake people or pretending. I think she respects the negative more than the good because after all, she always said "dont wait til Im gone to start to care for me". and thats been the worst part through the years has been watching all the fake and made up love from people who just have a need to be seen and heard (if that makes sense?) Ive said many times if she were here, I wouldve never went through half the trauma

Nick was an awesome guy! He would give you his shirt off his back. He was the best big brother I ever had. He was the best son,uncle,brother in law,dad. He was always there when you needed him.

Being goofy and play fighting!! Him being a loving person. The best brother ever!! Watching him skateboard with his niece and nephews.

His smile, his laugh, being able to play fight, his hugs, his voice, being able to call him. Just not being able to see him. We will miss everything.

Being the best person he was! He had a great heart. Always love skateboarding, and his favorite street bike Suzuki GSX-R600!!

He was an angel on earth. He loved helping people. Once, we passed some kids who had a lemonade stand, he turned around the block, gave the kid a 20$ and asked that he share it with his kid sister. Making other people's day, made Brian's day.

My favorite memory of him is the fact that he always gave me a hard time for drinking so much Dr. pepper. He knew how dramatic I always was. He would jokingly take large sips from my Dr. Peppers in order to get a reaction out of me. A laugh out of me, always made him laugh in return. He had the sweetest most inviting smile and laugh.

He was helpful, giving, in the most sincere way. He gave more than he could. His love was too big for this earth.

I would love to carry on his legacy by collecting agates, listening to his favorite songs, creating photos, stories and documents of his life. I will do anything to keep his memory alive.

Charlie was kind, tender-hearted, and loyal. His entire world was his sons; he loved them beyond measure.

We had a family saying that was "love you me".

His little grin that would come across his face and the biggest smile he had every time he was with his sons. His future - what would have been.

As a person who loved greatly and would be there for you in an instant, no questions asked and no judgment.

My dad was and is my first real hero. Despite his battle with addiction he always loved being around his kids and his family. I will always be my daddy’s little soldier.

I miss his voice everyday. His huge smile. His laugh. His energy that lifted me up when I was sad. I miss his “ Im proud of you mama” and his “ your so strong, take care of your mom for me” . I miss his presence every single day.

The memories of him are endless I guess the favorite would have been the day we got married. We were both so nervous like it was our 1st one but we both had been married before. It was a beautiful day and we were happy until the day he passed. My world then came tumbling down.

His smile,his personality,his genuine love for me he was my best friend and I miss our companionship we were always together through thick and thin through good times and through life's many challenges

He would want to be remembered as a kind loving soul that was full of life and laughter even though his addiction was overwhelming at times he knew I would always stand by him we had an unbreakable bond

My baby sister was the brightest star on the planet. She had a amazing future ahead of her that was bound for greatness. I will miss her boisterous personality and gorgeous smile I admired so much.

There’s so many to just list one, but my brother and I’s favorite memory would be our late night car rides to go get a McDonald’s icecream cone. Just laughing and listening to music together. We will forever miss that.

I will miss everything. I will miss her voice, her smile, her goofy laugh. I’ll miss her hugs and her “I love you”’s. I’ll miss all of her always.

She would like to be remembered as the beautiful young lady she will always be. The intelligence, charisma and natural beauty she carried. She will always be remembered as our Carly, confident and personable.

Cliff was our only son, a great athlete and he made people laugh. He had the best laugh and a beautiful smile. He was a good brother to his little sister, a protector. When his little girl was born, he said it was the best thing that ever happened to him. He loved his wife and daughter so deeply.

I loved watching him play soccer. I loved watching him with his daughter. He would make his baby girl laugh. They look so much alike.

I miss his hugs, his laughter, and his voice. If I could hug him again I would never let go.

For being a kind hearted man. He helped everyone he could. He was a great friend to so many people.

Jonathan worked locally as a construction laborer. His love of sports led him to play baseball at Las Palmas Little League in National City, CA, where was an All-Star four times. His teammates lovingly nicknamed him “Chuckie” for his bright red hair and the moniker stuck. While attending Hilltop High School in Chula Vista, he earned Rookie of the Year honors in water polo. He also played basketball for their junior-varsity team, making many friends along the way. Jon was a very loving son, grandson, nephew, brother and cousin. Words used to describe him have included funny, happy, goofy, carefree, and “pocket full of sunshine.” He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, water polo, video games, and music – especially hip-hop. He was very close to his brother, Louis Miguel Sotelo

As someone who had a heart of gold

Kayla was my eldest niece. She lost her Battle with addiction. She left behind 4 beautiful children.she was a beautiful that just wanted to find her place in this world and be loved genuinely.

Because there was so much distantance , we spoke often on the phone. But Kayla will always be remember for her beautiful smile long locks of brown curls and her big brown puppy dog eyes

As someone who was lost and was fighting each and everyday to survive and fit in . It sad to say that but she struggled with relationships with family. She loved hard and just wanted to be understood.

Emelie was a beautiful young woman that loved with her whole heart and gave of herself. She was so sensitive and kind to others . She was a nurse and cared so much for others, especially those in need of comfort. She reached out to friends in need .

Emelie would especially reach out to the under dogs and protected those she cared about with her whole being. She would find friends that needed her. They were often bad influences. She was lead down a destructive path in doing so many times. When Emelie was in the throws of her mental anger and pain and not living at home I went to pick her up from a friend's and she cried to me saying how sorry she was for all she had done.😢 💔.

Her fun and creativity side ! Emelie would make soap and crafty ornaments with her children to give as gifts for Christmas. She was such a good and loving mother to her 4 children and would do things with them outdoors in her garden. She would let her kids play in mud and get dirty. She never complained about life or any of her pregnancies. She even was willing to surrogate for her Aunt at one time. She was a natural caregiver and lover of children, pets, natural beauty around her.

Emelie would like to be remembered as a very loving and caring person who did not judge others for where the lived or what their family was like. Emelie wanted people to accept and care about each other. Be a friend to one another. She didn't care about money or fancy stuff. She loved to create and repurpose things. She loved thrift stores and old stuff. She loved singing and music. Emelie specially loved her children and her brother's along with all family members ❤️

Dave was an amazing man. He spoke to his parents regularly, rekindled his relationships with his children, & worked hard to build a life for his family. There isn’t enough space here to describe him. He’s missed by so many.

My favorite memories are when we met, our wedding, the birth of our son, his enthusiasm when the Bills played, mowing the lawn at 6am, camping, the beach, and everything in between.

I miss the way I felt at home, and safe with him. The way he was with our son, the way we helped to complete the other. Life isn’t and never will be the same without him here. We’re in the 2nd year, everything has changed. But there still has not been one day that has gone by where I haven’t thought of him and missed him.

I’d imagine he’d like to be remembered by all of his amazing qualities; his good work ethic, his dedication to college and his family. Dave was very active in the recovery community as well as a huge Buffalo Bills fan.
He wouldn’t want us to be sad or cry, but instead to remember the good times, and to continue talking about him to keep his memory alive.
